Urinary Incontinence
Urinary Incontinence is a common condition that can significantly affect the quality of
life for those affected
There are mainly 3 types of Urinary Incontinence;
• Stress Urinary Incontinence – SUI is a condition characterized by the
involuntary leakage of urine that usually arises from a weakening of the pelvic
floor muscles and tissues. Leakage occurs during activities that put pressure
on the bladder. These include actions such as
• Urge Urinary Incontinence – UUI is a condition characterized by a sudden,
intense urge to urinate, often leading to involuntary leakage of urine
• Overflow Incontinence – This is the involuntary leakage of urine that occurs
when the bladder becomes overly full but cannot empty properly. This often
results in small amounts of urine leaking out, even when the individual does
not feel the typical urge to urinate
Urinary Incontinence is treatable. Dr van Wijk will perform a thorough examination
during consultation & discuss the possible treatment plans with you in a shared
decision making process for effective treatment
